One of my most impressive accomplishments is building a social networking platform from scratch, where I now serve as the CTO, leading a team of 7 engineers. I've helped grow the company from inception to securing $3M in seed funding by single-handedly architecting a scalable backend infrastructure using Django, PostgreSQL, and Redis, supporting over 600,000 users with 99.9% uptime by hosting it on Kubernetes. Additionally, I designed and deployed a real-time data pipeline with Kafka and ClickHouse, enabling ingestion of 1M+ daily events. My work also included implementing advanced search capabilities (semantic + keyword based) and working on a real-time, voice based AI-powered interview platform.
You can also checkout my latest project at https://semaphore.chat. The is a chat application that offers a streamlined, no-nonsense AI chat experience. It provides access to multiple large language models (LLMs) from various vendors. Key features include markdown rendering of AI outputs, syntax highlighting for code, and the ability to display Mermaid.js diagrams on a canvas. The app supports real-time synchronization and resumable streams using Zero (sync engine), enabling users to share links, and allows for collaborative use of LLMs with peers. Authentication is handled via Google OAuth, the database is Postgres, frontend is in NextJS, self-hosted on an Hetzner server. Ideally I'd like to work for a product startup in capacity as the CTO or engineering manager or staff / principal engineer. (Not super interested in crypto or Web3)
This looks amazing. A solid solution to a pain point I've dealt with on multiple teams where secrets management always turns into a mess, especially in distributed setups without universal access to vaults or services. Love the offline-first approach and integration with existing SSH keys. It feels like a natural extension of Git workflows without adding bloat.
Full disclosure: I know the OP personally from some past collaborations, but that doesn't change how genuinely impressed I am with this tool.
Well, making things intentionally difficult sounds really stupid, but you learn a whole lot in the process, and for a side project geared towards gaining knowledge, this seemed perfect :) And in the process of setting this up I figured a new way to debug my deployments for remote k8s clusters, using kilo. Also sidenote, yes I actually do host a couple other things on my cluster including my blog, so I didn't really want to spin up a new instance just for DNS and VPN
It's not artificially injected into my setup. I already host my blog, and a couple other services on my k3s setup, and I didn't want to bootup another server just to sever as a VPN and DNS
