I don't even want hoverboards. I would settle for the people sleeping on benches and in tents 8 blocks from my house to have homes.

True. The Lexus LFA was a flop. It was also a quarter million dollars and an absolute engineering marvel.

I would have said that 7 or 8 years ago when MacBooks were absolute garbage. Now, the only complaint I have is that the 'control' key isn't in the bottom left corner like it should be.

Not that I was ever in the market for this type of tech, but Apple also gave up on the Newton...

That is not terribly significant at all.

I still maintain that the biggest proponents for this tech are unable to set up a wifi router without help.

I don't think it is because the biggest proponents are at the top - either in Science / Academia / Professional software development. But even if the people who are the weakest advocate for the tech, whats the issue?

> The same people that shout "Capitalism sucks, free us from our labor" are the exact same types that hate AI. The exact machine that will free you from your labor, when harnessed correctly, is the exact thing you hate.

No way. The people that run these companies all watched Star Trek and learned the exact wrong lessons from it. If you meant by "free you from your labor" that you will get laid off from your job and have to take up residence under an overpass, I would agree, that is what the want to do.

I'm guessing they become pets.com within the year. At least I hope.

I was gonna say, I still use an AMD Vega that uses HBM2.

My main system still uses a Vega 64 and it plays all the games I'd care about. Undervolts like a champ! Will use it until it dies..

Mine is a Vega 56 that thinks it's a Vega 64. It plays Hitman pretty well, and thats really all I need it for.

Vega was a card with decent perf/$ for the consumer, but from a pure technical point of view (perf/mm2, perf/BW, perf/W) it was a major failure. Both Vega (and Fiji before it) showed that excess memory BW alone is not sufficient to win.

> Both Vega (and Fiji before it) showed that excess memory BW alone is not sufficient to win.

That's correct if you're targeting gamers, but local AI inference changes this picture substantially.

Oh I never said it was a great card. It does work for what I need it for though.

They announced a Tesla with no steering wheel a while ago. Don't tell me that was vaporware.
