You either works with higher error margins than the Volvo software (what should be the case, since yours is being tested), or you log your software decisions and compare with the Volvo's one after the fact.

Right, that makes sense. I think they were really underestimating the risks of distracted driving. Which I think a lot of people (myself included) do.
